WELCOME TO A NEW ADVENTURE
A new year begins and I hope it will be an adventure for all of us. I'm starting the year with lots of enthusiasm and I hope you are too. Almost 90% of European students now study English compared to 32% studying French ( Encyclopaedia Britannica) and I'll try my best to give you the edge with your English.
Over the summer of 2009 I worked in England at a very respected private school. I learnt a lot and I hope to incorporate some of things I learned into YOUR lessons, So expect songs, videos, games and discussions.

Help is available |

Last year I offered to meet any student who needed help with their writing, pronunciation and presentations on a one-to-one basis. I also helped many students with their applications to overseas universities. All you have to do is ask, but PLEASE, don't all request to see me in the very last weeks of the school year.

What's expected? |

I understand that your English lessons are just one of the subjects you must concentrate on and give your time to. I also understand that sometimes you are tired and grumpy. That said, I really DO expect you to put some effort into your English lessons. Teaching and learning are mutually dependent. You can't have one without the other. Give me your time and I will try not to waste it. If you think I AM wasting your time - tell me - I promise I will listen.

I promise to give you lots of time to do any assignments. I will give you a deadline. You'll also get email reminders - BUT it is your responsibility to meet the FAIR deadlines I give you. Miss it and it is school policy to give you a 5 for that asignment.

Please let me know if you are interested in a trip to London in 2010. We'll be going to various theatres, galleries and so on, but we'll be having lots of fun too . . .

Your English Dept is an important part of school life at GJN. If you need help with ANYTHING relating to English - a letter you need checking- a play you are going to be in - pronunciation issues - please just ask. We are all here to help.
